Canon S1 IS sharpness test 7/16/04

This is a sharpness test for the S1 IS.  I used P Mode, IS off (I set the camera on my car and used the two second shutter delay.)  The images were taken at 1600x1200, superfine; then I cropped a 800x800 square out of the middle.  By going to FUNC > Effect > Custom Effect > Set > Sharpness, you can select -, o, + (low, normal, high.)  The default is normal.  Look closely at the tree bark, the sharpness effect on High does make a little difference.  Overall using the Custom Effect of High Sharpness does seem to make pictures come out less "soft looking" than not using the custom effect.  I think I will use the high sharpness from now on.
